Combined influence of carbonation and leaching on freeze-thaw resistance of limestone ternary cement concrete

چکیده
Performance of OPC and composite cements including limestone ternary blended concretes pastes exposed to natural carbonation, leaching, freeze-thaw (FT) cycles their coupling were investigated. The combined regime is analogous the Capillary suction, internal damage Freeze-thaw (CIF) test. test results showed that cement are more susceptible surface scaling damage. Microanalysis complementary revealed partial carbonation after equilibration at 65% RH. Decalcification due leaching accompanied capillary profound in partially carbonated such portlandite was depleted from before FT commenced. Successive increased porosity; heterogeneity coarsening pore structures drastic when preceded FT, modifying C-S-H morphology composition. Curtailing reduced comparable levels as same strength class. These findings imply changes porosity phase assemblage caused by contributed susceptibility.

The Effects of Water/Cement Ratio and Air Entraining on Portland Cement Concrete Freeze/Thaw Durability
This paper deals with the issues of air entraining and water/cement ratio in Portland Cement Concrete as related to its freeze thaw durability. Practices have been in place for nearly thirty years which demanded high early strengths in Portland Cement Concrete pavements. This paper looks at those practices, investigates the correlation between water/cement ratio and air entraining, and presents...
متن کاملModeling of Hydration, Compressive Strength, and Carbonation of Portland-Limestone Cement (PLC) Concrete
Limestone is widely used in the construction industry to produce Portland limestone cement (PLC) concrete. Systematic evaluations of hydration kinetics, compressive strength development, and carbonation resistance are crucial for the rational use of limestone. This study presents a hydration-based model for evaluating the influences of limestone on the strength and carbonation of concrete. Firs...
متن کاملFreeze-Thaw Durability of Air-Entrained Concrete
One of the most damaging actions affecting concrete is the abrupt temperature change (freeze-thaw cycles). The types of deterioration of concrete structures by cyclic freeze-thaw can be largely classified into surface scaling (characterized by the weight loss) and internal crack growth (characterized by the loss of dynamic modulus of elasticity). The present study explored the durability of con...

متن کاملBehavior of Plain Concrete of a High Water-Cement Ratio after Freeze-Thaw Cycles
An experimental study of plain concrete specimens of water-cement ratio 0.55, subjected to 0, 15, 25, 40, 50 and 75 cycles of freeze-thaw was completed. The dynamic modulus of elasticity (DME), weight loss, compressive strength, tensile strength, flexural strength, cleavage strength and stress-strain relationships of plain concrete specimens suffering from freeze-thaw cycles were measured. The ...
